retrospec zed longboard review

The Retrospec Zed Bamboo Longboard is the way to go when you’re looking for the perfect longboard. It’s not too big, not too small. It’s got a classic, vintage look that will make you feel like a star wherever you ride.

The Zed comes in two styles: cruiser and pintail, with the latter being more popular among riders who want something shorter than a standard cruiser. The pintail version is great for cruising on flat surfaces or downhill runs, but it’s also great for beginners who want to learn how to skateboard before deciding to take it further into the world of longboarding.

Both models are made out of sustainable bamboo from Los Angeles. This sustainable material allows us all to enjoy this beautiful board without worrying about whether or not it was harvested responsibly or how many trees had to be cut down for us to have it today.

Zed Cruiser Style

Zed is a fast, agile longboard with a smooth ride and responsive trucks. It’s built to last and comes with a 44-inch deck made from quality bamboo and 8-ply maple. The deck is 9.5 inches, so you’ll get plenty of places to put feet to have a balance on the board.

The Zed cruiser features a highly responsive aluminum reverse kingpin truck for increased performance while cruising around. Moreover, thanks to its ABEC-7 bearing, which will help you ride smoothly regardless of your speed or riding style.

This board has a maximum weight capacity of 220 pounds to handle even the heaviest riders!

My experience while using the board was overall good, but I faced a little problem due to the toughness of the wheels. However, it is equipped with 70*50mm in diameter wheels. But I faced some hindrances in getting high speed due to wheel stiffness.

Zed Pintail Longboard

It is another good option but a little smaller than the cruiser. The deck is 41 inches long. It has a different shape that does not make it perfect for heavier riders.

Zed pintails come fully assembled. You can ride them after getting out of the box. But on the safe e side, I recommend you check the wheels and tight the bolts to have a safe e journey. Besides the small length, they have all the same features as cruisers.

Reasons to Buy
  • Comes with multiple color options
  • Deck has good space for balance
  • Sturdy construction quality
  • Provides a smooth ride
Reasons to Avoid
  • Not smooth at sharp turns
  • The wheels are stiff

retrospec tidal longboard review

It is the best board for downhill riding. The Retrospec longboard is the perfect choice to perform tricks like a pro. It’s 41 inches long and 9.5 inches wide, so it’s large enough to handle your weight and balance out all the tricks you want to pull off.

But what sets this board apart is its amazing grip tape: OS780! It’s incredibly grippy and allows you to carve down any hill or mountain effortlessly. And because it’s layered with maple wood, it’ll stay in great condition for many years!

The drop-through design makes this board easy to ride even if your stance is not quite perfect yet—the risk of wheel bite is lowered while carving, which helps keep you balanced on the board and improves your overall control over it.

Like other models, the board contains a wider and longer deck strong enough to hold 220 pounds.

The Retrospec is crafted with an 85A hardness rating and tough 70 x 51 mm PU wheels, making it perfect for sliding at high speeds. It also comes with 180mm responsive and smooth reverse kingpin trucks with ABEC-7 bearings for your safety, and it is especially good for super-fast surfing and sliding.

Reasons to Buy
  • The drop-through design is best for safety
  • Shock absorbing wheels
  • Best for free riding
  • Long-lasting
Reasons to Avoid
  • Not easily portable

retrospec rift drop through longboard review

Are you looking for the drop-through longboard that will surely be a hit with anyone who wants to ride the roads, commute, cruise, or carve?

No worries- because retrospec has presented the rift drop-through model to satisfy your riding needs. It comes in at 41 inches long and 9.5 inches wide, which makes it easy to maneuver and comfortable for hours of riding.

The deck of this board is composed of 8-ply Canadian Maple wood and has a layer of highly grippy and rough 80AB grip tape applied to it. This gives you more stability while riding on uneven surfaces like gravel, as well as when riding downhill at high speeds.

Moreover, the large deck can bear 220 pounds, and the board comes in various colors so you can match your outfit and gear according to your ride.

The shape of the deck on this board helps you get around obstacles efficiently, whether a pothole or a rock wall. The concave in the middle allows for smooth turns without any resistance from the wheels; this also helps prevent wheel bite from occurring when you’re turning sharply or braking quickly next to an obstacle, such as a curb or tree branch.

This model’s lower center of gravity makes it very easy to get started on your first ride and maintain control during longer rides or when going uphill or downhill. The manufacturer claims this model will help you improve your balance and coordination while still enjoying the thrill of riding a longboard for hours at a time!

The Rift Drop-through is a ride you’ll want to take in every way possible. The 70 x 50 mm PU wheels are designed with a hardness rating of 78A, which means they’re soft enough to absorb any bumps or knocks while still being durable enough to handle the terrain you’ll encounter.

And thanks to the 180mm reverse kingpin trucks and quality ABEC 7 stainless steel bearings, your ride will be smooth and easy.

Reasons to Buy
  • Quality components are used for manufacturing
  • Good for getting speed
  • No wheel- bite
Reasons to Avoid
  • Not best for exceptional tricks

Conclusion

Retrospec longboard is the best combination of low price and quality. Retrospec rift drop-through longboard is best for beginners. Retrospec Zed is ideal for urban cruising and best for high speed with a durable design. Retrospec Tidal is best for pro riders to show advanced tricks.

However, I recommend you buy the board according to your riding level. So, if you found the retrospec longboard review helpful, don’t forget to leave a comment below.
